Message Module: Friendly Configuration Guide

Hello! Welcome to the Message Module configuration. This tool lets you decide what your bot (like a chatbot) will say and how it will behave after sending a message. It's like writing a script for your bot to talk to people. You'll do this in an easy-to-use popup window, without needing to know how to code!

What does the Message Module do?

The Message Module tells your bot:

  • What message to send to someone (like "Hello, welcome!").
  • Whether it should wait for a reply or move on to another step.

You'll configure all this in a small window that appears on your screen, with fields you fill out as if you were composing a text message.

Step-by-Step Configuration in the Popup Window

When you open this tool, you'll see a window that appears from the bottom titled "Message Configuration" with an envelope icon (πŸ“©). Here's how to use it:

1. Name Your Message

  • Where: The "Name" text box at the top.
  • What it does: It's like labeling your message so you know what it is (for example, "Greeting" or "Farewell").
  • How to set it up: Write something short and clear that helps you remember it. It's mandatory, so don't leave it blank!

Example: Write "Initial Greeting" if it's the first message your bot sends.

2. Define the Bot's Message

  • Where: The "Message Type" section with a checkbox and a text area (or a menu, depending on what you choose).
  • What it does: Here you decide what your bot will say. You have two options:
    • Write a new message: If you don't check the "Select Existing One" box, you can write whatever you want, like "Hello! How can I help you?".
    • Use a saved message: If you check the box, a menu will appear to choose a message you already have ready (like a standard greeting).
  • How to set it up:
    • Decide if you want to write something new or use an existing one.
    • If you don't check the box, write your message in the large text box. If you do check it, choose an option from the menu. It's mandatory to write or choose something!

Example:

  • Unchecked: Write "Thanks for contacting us, what's your question?".
  • Checked: Choose "Standard Greeting" from the menu.

3. Decide What Happens Next (Go Next)

  • Where: The "Go next" checkbox.
  • What it does: Tells the bot whether to continue with the next step after sending the message (like asking a question or showing a menu).
  • How to set it up: Check the box if you want the bot to continue automatically. Leave it unchecked if you want it to stop there.

Example: Check "Go next" if after "Hello" you want the bot to say "What do you need?".

4. Save Your Message

  • Where: The "Save" button at the bottom.
  • What it does: Saves everything you configured for the bot to use.
  • How to set it up: Click "Save" when you're done. If everything is correct, the window will close and a small message will appear saying it was saved successfully. If something is missing (like the name or message), it will ask you to complete it first.

Tip: Check that you've filled in all required fields before saving.

What Happens When It Runs?

  1. The bot takes the message you wrote or chose.
  2. It sends it to the person chatting with it (for example, "Hello! Welcome to my store").
  3. If you checked "Go next", the bot moves on to the next step you've configured. If not, it waits.

Practical Example

Imagine you have a bot for an online store:

  1. You open the popup window.
  2. In "Name", you write "Store Welcome".
  3. You don't check "Select Existing One" and write in the message box: "Hello! Welcome to my store, what are you looking for today?".
  4. You check "Go next" because then you want the bot to show a menu.
  5. You click "Save".

Result: When someone talks to your bot, they'll see "Hello! Welcome to my store, what are you looking for today?" and then it will move on to the next step.

Simplified Special Tricks

Using Saved Messages

  • What it does: If you have messages you use often (like a standard greeting), you can choose them instead of writing them each time.
  • How to set it up: Check "Select Existing One" and choose one from the menu that appears.

Example: You choose "Basic Greeting" which says "Hello, how can I help you?".

Connecting with Previous Steps

  • What it does: If the message depends on something the person said before (like their name), the system adjusts it automatically behind the scenes.
  • How to set it up: Don't worry about this, just write the message and the bot will make it work if you already have previous steps configured.

Example: If someone said "My name is Anna", the bot can use "Hello Anna, how can I help you?".

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Can't save? Make sure you've written a name and a message (or chosen one from the menu). They're mandatory.
  • Message doesn't appear as you want? Check what you wrote and save it again.
  • Bot doesn't move to the next step? Verify if you checked "Go next".

That's it! You've configured a message for your bot. Fill in the fields, save it, and watch how your bot starts chatting with people. If something doesn't work as expected, try changing the message or ask whoever manages the system for extra advice. Go for it!
